WHERE ARE YOU FROM? In other words, where do you call home? A question that is frequently asked, usually quickly answered. But for me, this question has always resulted in more questions, not answers.
I AM FROM Colorado. Well, I’ve lived there for most of my life.
I’M FROM China. Or at least, I was born there and I go back to visit every few years and every time I go back it feels like I’m coming home.
I’M FROM the East Coast. What I mean is that I go to school on the East Coast, which means in the past two years I’ve spent much more time here than in Colorado.
I’M FROM neither here nor there. Perhaps home is not a location, but a feeling. The feeling of coming home can happen here or there, anywhere really.
